MONROE - The Tri-State Basement Repair and Waterproofing Company of Richland Center repaired the cement skirt on the 3-foot base of the Lincoln Park Water Tower in Monroe on Wednesday and Thursday. The company removed loose cement around the base and then sprayed a wet mix of concrete coating to the base, according to John Glynn of the Green County Historical Society.
The work is one of several activities planned over the year to improve the condition of the water tower and permit the public access to the inside on occasion.
The project was funded by the Green County Historical Society and by a matching grant from the Clifford and Dorothy Reasa Fund for Historic Preservation of the Monroe Fund, which is a component of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin.
Alan Gerber, Monroe's director of public works, is overseeing the contract work, Glynn wrote in an email.
