Lighting winners announced

MONROE - The Main Street Holiday Lighting Contest results have been released.

In the "Religious Theme," first place was awarded to Beverly Hauri with honorary mention to Wanda Dieckman. First place for the "Lights, Lights and More Lights" category was awarded to Jim and Veronica Bruce with honorary mention to Nancy Guptill

JoAnne's Dress Shop took first place for "Christmas Around the Square," with a tie for honorary mention between The Green Door and Luecke's Jewelers. There was a tie for first place in the "Block Party" category between Rick and Karen Campbell, Steve and Mary Ellen Walden, Jean and Ron Cook and the Grandview Lane Neighbors. Victor and Rita Benkert took first place for "Christmas in the Country." Genthe Appliance, in the West Mall, was first in "Deck Out Your Business."

In the "It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas" category, first place was awarded to Carol Tourdot and honorary mention to Dennis and Linda Thompson. The "Kids Favorite Christmas" category was judged by a youth team for the first time. Honorary mention went to Mike Einbeck and first place to Hermie and Jody Huber. The Hubers were also selected by Trolley Ride participants as the "People's Choice" of the contest.
