Library seeking summer VolunTeens

MONROE - The Monroe Public Library is seeking middle and high school students who would like to become VolunTeens and assist with the library's Wild Wednesday programs in June and July.

Students who have completed sixth grade and up and are interested in helping young children discover new skills at the library are welcome to become VolunTeens. As a VolunTeen, the student can expect to lend a hand with crafts, lead an activity, or assist library staff in preparing for a program.

VolunTeens are expected to keep the commitments they make to help at a program, arrive on time and devote their attention to the tasks assigned to them.

To participate in the VolunTeen program at the Monroe Public Library, the student must have a current VolunTeen application on file. A parent or guardian and the student must sign the application. Applications are available at the 4-Teens desk and the youth desk of the library. In order to avoid conflict with other obligations, the student is requested to check the family calendar before committing to helping at a Wednesday program.

A complete calendar of Wild Wednesday programs and the jobs available to VolunTeens is posted in the Children's Room of the Monroe Public Library.

For more information, contact the youth desk of the library at 608-328-7026 or the teen desk at 608-328-7027.
