MONROE - Monroe Public Library will host a free movie series event for children and families at the library, 925 16th Ave.
The Cool Movies for Hot Days will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoons in the library's second floor meeting room. Those who attend are invited to bring their own drinks and treats along with quilts, bean bags or floor pillows.
On Aug. 8, the Cool Movie will be "Rango," which is about a pet chameleon who gets tossed into a wild and crazy town in need of a hero. The PG-rated movie features Johnny Depp as the voice of Rango.
"The Lorax," about 12-year-old Ted who will do anything to impress the girl of his dreams, will be the featured movie on Aug. 15. The movie is rated PG and will last about 90 minutes. For more information, contact the Youth Services Department at (608) 328-7026.
