Legislative day for librarians across the state was held earlier this month. Librarians from across the district met with elected leaders to discuss work they are doing in their communities. Jen Bernetzke, Robert Boyle, Michael Brandt, Karen Busch, Edward Gervain, Carol Ann Hood, Shauna Koszegi, Angela Noel (all from Southwest WI Library System), Sarah Kyrie (Blanchardville Public Library), Diane Palzkill (Mineral Point Public Library), Sharilyn Sailing (Barneveld Public Library), Ruth Ann Summers (Cuba City Public Library), and Emily Whitmore (Spring Green Community Library).
“As a kid who grew up in rural Cobb, Wis., I always enjoyed the library,” 51st Assembly Rep. Todd Novak said. It served as a place to socialize with peers and learn more about the world. Today, our libraries continue to play a vital role in our local communities as central public spaces for residents to meet and engage. They also provide valuable education through access to books, classes, and courses for children and seniors alike. As we embark on this legislative session, I will continue to support librarians and the important work they do for our communities.”
