Position sought: Monroe School Board
Age: 69
City/town of residence: Town of Monroe
Family: Wife Francy Daughters Kristin, Susan and Sara
Education: BS from UW Oshkosh
Occupation: Retired
Previous elected positions held: School Board
What are the top issues facing this district/municipality and how would you work to resolve it?
Our schools educate students who possess a wide variety of abilities and interests. In order to help them achieve at the highest level, we need a similar variety of teachers and administrators. Our top priority should be to attract, retain, and reward a quality staff and expand the opportunities available to our children and grandchildren
Public education in Wisconsin has been unfairly and unjustly attacked. The state has failed to meet its responsibility to provide financial support. Many times the Board of Education has to function more as a Board of Finance. To partially counter this, we all need to work to support the referendum next fall.
The culture in Monroe is changing. We have more students living in poverty, more students with educational needs, and more students with personal challenges. Students and parents also have educational opportunities that didn't exist in the past. We need, as a district and community, to assume more of a leadership role.
