VILLAGE OF COBB — The League of Wisconsin Municipalities honored Rep. Todd Novak August 10 at the Village of Cobb Village Board meeting with the “Municipal Champion Award.” The League of Wisconsin Municipalities awarded Rep. Novak with the “Municipal Champion Award” because of his leadership on legislation positively impacting municipalities across the state of Wisconsin.
Rep. Novak is also the mayor of Dodgeville, in addition to his four terms in the Legislature, where he has served as chair of the Assembly Committee on Local Government. Rep. Novak’s dual service at the state and local level make him uniquely qualified in local government needs, challenges, and innovative local solutions. The League of Wisconsin Municipalities particularly appreciates Rep. Novak’s support and assistance holding hearings on League supported legislation as well as his co-sponsorship and committee leadership of the League and Towns Association compromise annexation bill.
“As chair of the Assembly Committee on Local Government, Rep. Novak consistently advocates for local control and understands the needs and challenges facing municipalities. He is always available to discuss municipal issues and is the go to person on local government issues in the Assembly. We are fortunate to have a strong working relationship with Rep. Novak,” said the League’s Government Affairs Director Toni Herkert, who presented Rep. Novak with the award “Rep. Novak has been an asset to municipalities by helping to block legislation that would negatively impact our local communities and has allowed legislation supported by municipalities to move through the legislation process. We look forward to working with Rep. Novak on future legislative priorities, which include the League’s efforts to reform how local governments are funded in Wisconsin.”
The League presents the “Municipal Champion Award” to state legislators who exhibit strong leadership in supporting municipalities in the State Capitol.
