MONROE - People who move to a new city have many questions.
They might wonder where to vote, what days the city picks up the garbage or whether there is a local newspaper in town.
A Green County Leaders project team recently created a guide to answer some of those questions.
Shelly Kuhl, Brodhead, was one of six people who worked on the guide. Kuhl said the group researched the need for a guide by talking to people who were new to the area.
The result of the project was a brochure that lists all the municipalities in Green County, including townships, villages and cities, and provides information like phone numbers for city government, medical facilities, churches, city services, points of interest and community events. County information also is included.
Each community is listed separately. There's also a map on the back of the brochure.
The guides are available at the Monroe Chamber of Commerce and Industry, local businesses, schools and other sites throughout the county.
Kuhl said the brochures have been popular with Realtors.
"They are the first contact people have when they're looking to buy a house," she said. "They've told us the brochures have been beneficial."
Project members included Kuhl, Lisa Bell, Ellen Hossman, Kent McConnell, Judy Meier and Nic Owen.
