MONROE - The last concert of Monroe Arts Center's 2017-18 Sunday Concert Series will be a one-hour vocal concert performed by more than 75 members of Madison Youth Choirs at 2 p.m. April 22.
Under the direction of artistic director Michael Ross, Madison Youth Choirs' girls Cantabile and the boys Ragazzi choirs will perform new pieces and past favorites by both American and European composers such as Claudio Monteverdi, George Frideric Handel, Frank Loesser and Timothy Takach.
Madison Youth Choirs is the oldest youth choir organization in Wisconsin. The organization's approach to music education encourages communities to embrace the transformative power of choral performance.
The choirs have an international reputation and perform and collaborate annually with professional arts organizations including the Madison Symphony Orchestra, Madison Ballet and Madison Opera. In addition to a public concert series, MYC conducts an annual spring tour of schools and retirement centers, performing for more than 7,000 students and senior citizens each year.
