Lafayette County Manor residents evacuated, relocated
Pleasant View, other nursing homes step up to house displaced residents
Pleasant View

DARLINGTON - On Wednesday, Nov. 27, the Lafayette County Manor suffered a critical boiler malfunction and was unable to provide heat for the entire building, according a press release from Pleasant View in Green County Nov. 28. As a result, all residents had to be evacuated and transported to other facilities. In order to support a such a large scale effort to move a substantial amount of people, a Mass Casualty Emergency was declared.

Pleasant View Nursing Home accepted 25 of the approximately 50 residents that needed to be evacuated. Support agencies and Emergency Medical Services from across Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois graciously volunteered teams of people in  order to get residents moved safely and comfortably on a cold November evening. Pleasant View staff had to act quickly in order to welcome and receive a large number of new guests, including: preparing rooms with bedding, linens, blankets, additional food, toiletries and supplies, and anything else needed to accommodate residents.

"We are so happy to report on this day of Thanksgiving that all of our new residents are  comfortably settled in. And we are in deep gratitude to all of the emergency  professionals, volunteers, caretakers, Pleasant View and Lafayette County Manor staff,  and everyone involved in this event," Pleasant View said in the press release.

Theresa Burgess, Lieutenant/Emergency Management Director of Lafayette County, coordinated the ambulance transportation.

Special thanks to Green County EMS, Lafayette County EMS, Belmont EMS, Warren  EMS, Southwest Health Emergency Medical Services, Agrace Hospice, Stockton EMS,  Galena Area EMS, and Elizabeth EMS.
