DARLINGTON - Lafayette County District Attorney Kate Findley has announced she is running for Lafayette County Circuit Court judge.
Findley has begun collecting signatures for nomination papers, the Darlington resident said in news release Wednesday.
She is the third person to announce her candidacy to replace long-time judge William Johnston, who is retiring. The other candidates are Darlington attorney Duane Jorgenson and Guy Taylor, assistant public defender for Green and Lafayette counties.
Findley previously worked a public defender and was an assistant clinical professor at the University of Wisconsin Law School for 10 years. Before becoming district attorney, Findley was the Attorney Manager for the state public defender's office for Green and Lafayette counties.
As district attorney, Findley said she "is proud of the level of cooperation developed with law enforcement officers throughout the county during recent high exposure cases" and "looks forward to serving the citizens of Lafayette County."
