MONROE - Voters will go to the polls Tuesday to vote for judges and local officials.

Green County will elect a new judge for the newly created Green County Circuit Second Branch Court. The position was created by the state Legislature in response to the increased number of cases handled in Green County Circuit Court.

Attorneys Tom Vale, Monroe, and Dan Gartzke, New Glarus, are running for the branch's six-year term.

Green County Circuit Court Judge James Beer is unopposed in the First Branch race.

Monroe voters in Ward 4 will choose between incumbent Jan Lefevre and challenger Dan DeMuth in the only contested city council race. Aldermen Paul Hannes (Ward 2), Keith Ingwell (Ward 6), Dan Henke (Ward 8) and Charles Schuringa (Ward 10) are running uncontested.

Albany school district residents will have to decide if they want the district to spend $2 million to update the school's heating system and roof. A second question asks residents to permit the district to exceed revenue caps by $1.75 million over the next four years to keep with curriculum and technology needs within the district.

There are several other races in the area.

In New Glarus, Jim Salter will challenge incumbent Village Board President Erwin Zweifel.

Also in New Glarus, Marty Anderson, Paul Heberer, Nathan Johnson and Larry Stuessy are running for school board. Two of the four candidates will serve.

In Juda, Dennis Pfingsten, David Mansfield, JoAnn Goecks and Carolyne Bauman are seeking two positions on the school board.

For the Monticello school board, Julie Havens, Ronald Blumer, Stephen Scanlan, Larry McGowan and Robert Goehring are campaigning for three positions.

In Argyle, Larry Flannery, Peter Herman, Caroline Rossing, Stanton Bigelow and Loren Bruehlman are campaigning for three positions on the school board.

Statewide, voters will choose between incumbent Shirley Abrahamson and Jefferson County Circuit Court Judge Randy Koschnick for a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, while Rose Fernandez and Tony Evers are seeking to become Superintendent of Public Instruction.
