MONROE - The Green County Job Fair, a major regional recruiting event, is rapidly approaching and job seekers will have many opportunities from which to choose.
More than 20 employment representatives will be on hand April 26 to answer questions about their company and their open positions.
Open positions are both full- and part-time, represent virtually all industry sectors, from manufacturing to retail, and include both entry level and advanced positions. Students looking for summer employment and/or internships also are encouraged to attend.
The event will provide job seekers the opportunity to talk with area employers about potential job opportunities in the region. Monroe and Green County have many growing businesses that need good people to fill the jobs they are creating. This event will help connect those looking for a job with employers.
To help job seekers prepare for the Job Fair and enhance their chances of landing a position, Blackhawk Technical College will hold a job readiness prep workshop, "How to Land a Job at a Career Fair," from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Monroe campus, 210 4th Ave. This free workshop will identify the qualities employers are seeking, provide information on how to make an impression, and assist participants in building an elevator speech for meeting employers in a networking setting.
The workshop is open to the general public and no advance registration is required.
The Green County Job Fair will be from 3 to 6 p.m. April 26 at the Blackhawk Technical College Monroe campus. Employers scheduled to attend the Job Fair include: 160 Driving Academy, Alpine Slicing and Cheese Conversion, Colony Brands, Emmi Roth USA, Furst Staffing, Great Wolf Resorts Customer Contact Center, Hughes Resources. Kobussen Buses LTD, Lamers Bus Lines, Monroe Manor, Orchid International, Pleasant View Nursing Home, Precision Drive and Control Inc., QPS, Schneider, Sedona Staffing, Tradesmen International, Walgreens-Monroe, West, Wisconsin Department of Corrections and Wisconsin Early Autism Project. Additional employers are being added daily.
Workforce representatives remind job seekers planning to attend the event to "dress for success" in attire suitable for a job interview, practice telling the prospective employer why they should be hired and bring several copies of a resume. Many employers will be accepting applications on-site. Computers with Internet access will be available to complete on-line job applications.
There is no charge to attend the Green County Job Fair, which is open to all Wisconsin and Illinois job seekers. Organizers of the job fair include Blackhawk Technical College, Forward Service Corporation, Green County Development Corporation, Monroe Chamber of Commerce, SW Workforce Development Board and the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.
