MONROE - The Monroe School Board is set to formally hire an assistant principal from Janesville Parker High School as its new director of curriculum and instruction for the Monroe school district.
Dan Keyser resigned from his position at the Janesville high school, effective Tuesday, July 31, to become the director of curriculum for Monroe, the Janesville Gazette reported.
Monroe superintendent Cory Hirsbrunner confirmed Keyser was offered the position. The school board still needs to vote to formally approve the appointment; that action is expected at the board's meeting Monday, July 23. The Janesville school board must also formally accept Keyser's resignation.
Keyser began his career as a math and science teacher at Craig High School in 1999 and became Parker's assistant principal in 2004, the Gazette reported. As assistant principal, Keyser handled attendance and discipline and supervised the math and science areas. He served on the Janesville district's students discipline and Response to Intervention committees.
The director of curriculum and instruction position became vacant when Hirsbrunner left that role to become superintendent of Monroe schools July 1. Previous superintendent Larry Brown resigned to accept a position as superintendent in Rice Lake.
