NEW DIGGINGS - A Dubuque, Iowa, woman died in a two-vehicle crash Friday at the intersection of County I and County W in Lafayette County, according to a sheriff's department press release.
At about 1:42 p.m., Megan E. Uptegraph-Coble, 28, Dubuque, Iowa, was driving a 2001 Jeep sport utility vehicle south on County I when she failed to yield from a stop sign as she turned on to County W about one mile east of New Diggings, said Scott Pedley, Lafayette County sheriff. The vehicle entered the path of a 2004 Pontiac driven by Linda L. Homer, 53, Hazel Green.
Uptegraph-Coble was pronounced dead at the scene by a UW Med Flight physician.
Homer and her passenger, Elizabeth A. Burchfield, 54, Shullsburg, were transported by Shullsburg and Hazel Green ambulances to a Dubuque hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
All involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts, Pedley said, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The investigation into the crash will continue.
Benton First Responders and Fire Department, Shullsburg Fire Department, Shullsburg police, sheriff's deputies and a Med Flight helicopter were called to the scene.
Uptegraph-Coble's death is the third fatal traffic crash in Lafayette County in 2010.
