MONROE - A free breakfast and informational meeting is planned for anyone interested in leading or forming a team for the 11th annual Green County Alzheimer's Walk for Alzheimer's and Dementia.

The meeting will be held at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, July 12 at the Monroe Country Club, 2205 21st St., with information packets and tips available.

Alzheimer's walks are the primary fundraising event for the Alzheimer's and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin. This year's Alzheimer's Walk will begin on Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Behring Senior Center, Monroe.

All proceeds from the walk are used locally to benefit those affected by Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. Almost all of the programs and services provided by ADAW are without charge to individuals and families. Services support individuals, families, and professionals impacted by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias with services including a toll-free helpline, information, education, private family and professional consultations, support groups, training programs and advocacy.

No minimum donation is required but individuals who donate $50 or more receive an official Alzheimer's Walk 2012 T-shirt. More than 200 people walked last year and raised $41,000.

More information about the meeting is available by contacting ADAW at (608) 232-3400 or at (888) 308-6251. To register for the walk, contact the ADAW, sign up at the breakfast or visit www.alzwisc.org.
