Illinois State Police District 16 announces Jan. activity

PECATONICA — Illinois State Police District 16 Commander, Lieutenant Joseph Blanchette, announced District 16 enforcement figures and activity for the month of January. 

Illinois State Police District 16 Troopers issued 381 total citations and 418 written warnings during the month. Speed violations accounted for 191 citations. Six citations were issued for occupant restraint violations and 18 enforcement documents were issued for distracted driving violations.

Troopers investigated 45 traffic crashes and assisted 157 motorists. One hundred seven commercial motor vehicle inspections were completed with five drivers and/or vehicles being placed out of service.

Troopers made nine arrests for driving under the influence and 20 criminal arrests. Eight enforcement documents were issued for Scott’s Law violations. Six school safety checks were performed by troopers.

District 16, which encompasses Jo Daviess, Stephenson, Winnebago and Boone Counties, had three traffic fatalities in January.
