Illegal U-turn leads to crash

MONROE — A Freeport driver who missed his exit and tried to make an illegal U-turn on Wisconsin 11 sustained injuries in a crash with a semi earlier this week, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Office.

Shannon S. Larson, 56, was not transported from the accident scene by EMS. Deputies cited him for making an unlawful U-turn.

The accident happened at about 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, in the W6500 block of Wis. 11, Town of Monroe.

Larson was westbound in his pickup truck when he reported that he missed his exit off the highway and tried to make a U-turn to travel eastbound. While he was attempting the maneuver, a westbound tractor trailer semi unit collided with Larson’s pickup truck, which then became stuck underneath the semi unit.

The driver of the semi, Arsentii Makhno, 26, Palatine, Illinois, was uninjured. The semi unit was towed.

A passenger in Larson’s truck also reported no injuries. Larson’s pickup truck was severely damaged and towed.

The Wisconsin State Patrol, Green County EMS and Monroe Fire Department assisted deputies at the scene. Wis. 11 was closed for about one hour due to the crash.
