DARLINGTON - An Illinois man was hospitalized with serious injuries following a motorcycle accident Saturday afternoon.
Jesse L. Hartman, 30, Mount Carroll, Ill., was hospitalized at 3:40 p.m. after he was in a one-vehicle motorcycle crash on County F in the Town of Fayette. Hartman failed to negotiate a curve, went into the opposite lane of traffic and then the ditch line, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department. The motorcycle slid on its side in the ditch, went through a fence and then rolled multiple times, ejecting Hartman. He and the motorcycle landed in a cornfield, where he had been thrown several feet beyond the bike.
Rural Medical Ambulance transported Hartman to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County. He was transported by Medflight to University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. The Darlington Fire Department assisted.
