TOWN OF WILLOW SPRINGS - An Illinois man was killed in a snowmobile accident on the Cheese Country Trail in Lafayette County Sunday.
Adam J. Yates, 24, of Winnebago, Ill., was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:49 a.m. Sunday in Willow Springs Township. A passing snowmobiler noticed the crash and notified Lafayette County authorities around 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
Department of Natural Resources Conservation Warden Jeff King said Yates failed to negotiate a curve, causing him to leave the trail and strike a tree.
The Lafayette County Sheriff's Department, Rural Medical Ambulance Service, the Lafayette County coroner's office and King responded to the accident.
Two people were killed in other Wisconsin snowmobile accidents on Friday.
