LENA - A workshop on hydroponics, a method of growing plants in water instead of soil that is becoming increasingly popular for growing food indoors, will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. March 4 at the Lena Community Center, 497 Lions Drive.
Extension Educator Candice Miller will demonstrate how easy making an at home hydroponic system can be. Miller will discuss the basics of how hydroponics works, the materials needed to build a system and the maintenance required. The hands-on workshop will allow participants to make their own hydroponic system to take home with them.
The Growing Food Indoors Using Hydroponics workshop is open to the public. The fee for this program is $15.
Materials are included to build the system except for an aquarium air pump and grow light, which would require an additional purchase by participants.
