DARLINGTON - The Hondo Group, a strategic marketing and communications agency, based in Forth Worth Texas is getting ready for the grand opening of its Midwestern office in Darlington.
The May 1 grand opening is a low-key, open house, beginning with a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. at the office at 332 Main St. Samples of the company's national and international work will be on display, and prospective clients can meet with current clients and with company executives from Texas, including President Lynn Balinas.
The Hondo Group's imaginative experts understand how today's media is consumed, and provide innovative advertising, marketing and public relations services.
Although begun in Fort Worth in 2006, The Hondo Group has several ties to Wisconsin.
A native of Texas, Balinas was previously president of Charleston/Orwig advertising and issues management agency in Hartland.
Vice President Kim Jones, an Albany native, is directing the Darlington office, The Hondo Group's first satellite office. Jones' husband, B.J., is a veterinarian in Darlington, and two of her four children play hockey on the Monroe Avalanche hockey team. Her parents and grandparents still live in the area.
Jones said the Darlington office will expand to six members this summer with more account service staff and another administrator. Three people now work in the office.
The Hondo Group serves a diverse local, national and international client base in businesses ranging from agriculture to urban development, including those in the manufacturing, real estate, health care and life sciences fields.
The Darlington office's primary focus will be on the agriculture industry.
"The company is dedicated to agriculture with a strong background in and love for the agriculture industry," Jones said. "We really want a growing and expanding business in Darlington."
The Hondo Group first started work in Wisconsin a year ago, and moved into its Darlington offices in December.
With a client base in Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin and Texas, having an office in Darlington made sense.
"Located here in the heartland, we can get a good feel for what is happening in the marketplace for our clients in the area," Jones said.
