MONTICELLO - People turned out Saturday to enjoy the community's annual Homecoming for many reasons.
"You see a lot of people you know," said Colleen Saidat, Monticello.
There was plenty to do during the four-day festival, including helicopter rides, a fish boil, softball tournaments, music and food, which were all available at the park.
"Monticello: Moving Forward Year After Year," was the theme for this year's event, which started Thursday and came to a close Sunday.
Karen Gempeler, Monticello, couldn't name one specific reason why so many people turned out Saturday.
"It's kind of everything," she said, with a smile. "People get together with friends. The weather is good. There's good entertainment. It's just a fun weekend."
There were crowds around each of the activities at the park, Saturday.
The mud volleyball game probably had the largest crowd. People cheered and laughed at the volleyball players as they fell in the mud trying to hit the ball.
Children rode the carnival rides and tried their luck at some of the carnival games; elsewhere, families gathered near the food tents.
The homemade pie sale was also busy as people could buy several kinds of pies, all baked by local cooks.
