MONROE - Green County Deputy Coroner Kris Hasse filed nomination papers Thursday for the job of Green County coroner.

Hasse has worked in the coroner's office for 13 years, the last 11 as chief deputy coroner.

Hasse decided to seek the office after she learned Green County Coroner Jan Perry was not seeking another term.

"I like what I do," Hasse said. "I like helping people."

The coroner's duties include notifying families of a death, answering their questions and providing information to them.

"We try to help them as much as we can," Hasse said.

Hasse lives in Monroe with her husband, Todd, and sons Mitchel, 15, and Trevor, 12.

She is a Monroe High school graduate and also attended Blackhawk Technical College and Madison Area Technical School.

The coroner's position is a four-year term.
