Ayres was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where she served as tactical operations sergeant in Mosul, Iraq, with the 101st Airborne Division. She was deployed to Herat, Afghanistan, with the 115th Combat Support Hospital, where she served as the only operating room nurse on a Spanish/Italian base.

Upon her return she was assigned to Evans Army Community Hospital in Colorado until 2017. Ayres is currently earning her Doctorate of Nursing Practice-Family Nurse Practitioner at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She resides in Greendale with her husband Jayson and daughter Alexandria Jo.

The Green County Memorial Park committee continues to seek names of Green County veterans to be placed on the "Wall of Honor" inside the building. Anyone knowing of someone who is a U.S. veteran, has lived anytime in Green County, served in any of the U.S. Armed Forces and was honorably discharged, may submit their information to the Green County Veterans Memorial Park Board committee members.
