MADISON - Gary Grossen, Juda, has received certification as a Master Cheesemaker in havarti and gouda, in addition to cheddar, muenster and brick, after completing the Wisconsin Master Cheesemaker program in April.
The program had three new and four returning Master Cheesemakers who graduated. With the 2013 graduates, Wisconsin has 56 active Masters.
Grossen is one of four existing Masters who repeated the program to earn certification in additional cheese varieties. He works at the dairy plan at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
