Green County once again assumed the top spot in the state, posting the lowest unemployment rate in Wisconsin for November, officials said.
In Green County the rate fell to 2.1 percent, from 2.2 percent last year at this time. Meanwhile, neighboring Lafayette County came in a close second place, with 2.2 percent unemployment for November, unchanged from the same time last year.
The two counties lead a state that is holding its own on the jobs front, according to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.
In brief, the nonseasonally adjusted data for Wisconsin shows:
● Metropolitan Statistical Areas: Preliminary November 2025 unemployment rates decreased in four of the state’s 13 metropolitan statistical areas over the year; rates increased in four metro areas over the year; and rates stayed the same in five metro areas over the year.
● Municipalities: Preliminary November 2025 unemployment rates decreased or stayed the same in 25 of Wisconsin’s 35 largest cities over the year; and rates increased in 10 cities over the year.
● Counties: Preliminary November 2025 unemployment rates decreased or stayed the same in 55 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties over the year, and rates increased in 17 counties over the year. Menominee County achieved a record low unemployment rate of 3.6% in November.
