This photo, taken in about 1950, shows the inside of the Style Shop at 1010 17th Ave. with Carl Briggs and two unidentified women. Carl was a partner with Ted Albert until Addie Briggs and June Albert took possession. The business was dissolved in about 1977. Annette Thompson and Carl I. Anderson opened the Anderson Style shop, Monroe's first women's ready-to-wear shop, in the mid 1920s. By 1927, Thompson was partnered with Sula Wells Jaberg. The business was housed where Martin's Sport Shop is now located until the early 1940s when Ivan C. Coplein was proprietor. Copies of any of the photos that have been put in the newspaper by the Green County Historical Society are available for a nominal fee. Anyone who can identify either of the women in this photo, is interested in ordering prints of photos or has any questions about GCHS may contact Matt Figi at 608-325-6503 or mfigi48@tds.net.
