This photo was taken in front of the former Universalist Church, which now serves as the home of the Green County Historical Society. This may be a Sunday school or kindergarten class with their teacher. The Universalist Church has an impressive history having housed Monroe's first kindergarten class and its first library. The Monroe Woman's Club can also trace its origin to this church. You are invited to visit this significant building this season. We plan to be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m. through October, starting June 5. The temporary display this year will be "Hodge Podge," an eclectic group of items, many of which have recently been donated to the society. If you would like to arrange a special group tour or have any questions, please contact Matt Figi at 325-6503 or mfigi48@tds.net.
