MONROE — Green County EMS is pleased to announce the appointment of Hanne Reiger to a leadership role within the organization, bringing with her more than 35 years of experience in the Emergency Medical Services field.
Reiger started her career with humble beginnings as an EMT-Basic and has built an extensive career that spans direct patient care, critical care transport, education, management, and EMS administration. Throughout her career, Reiger has remained deeply committed to serving patients, supporting EMS professionals, and strengthening the communities she serves.
After 10 years serving as a Paramedic with OSF Lifeline Ambulance in Rockford, Illinois, Reiger transitioned to the OSF Lifeline Helicopter program, further expanding her expertise in advanced prehospital care. In 2018, she joined the Flight For Life program, serving both on the helicopter and within the ground Critical Care Transport Program, where she provided specialized care for critically ill and injured patients.
Following her flight experience, Reiger moved into a leadership role with Ridge Ambulance Service, where she served as EMS Coordinator, TraumaSoft Coordinator, and Critical Care Transport Program Manager. During her time there, Reiger played a key role in launching an innovative Critical Care Transport Response Program in partnership with the Kishwaukee EMS System and the State of Illinois. The program was designed to bring critical care transport services to rural communities when air medical resources were unavailable, and it was exceeding expectations while still in its pilot phase.
Through these diverse experiences, Reiger has developed a comprehensive understanding of both private and nonprofit EMS transport, as well as the unique challenges facing rural emergency medical services.
Now returning home to Wisconsin, Reiger brings her experience, leadership, and passion for EMS to Green County EMS. Her vision is centered on strengthening the organization while supporting the professionals who serve the community every day.
“I want to move Green County EMS forward by finding solutions to common challenges facing EMS today,” Reiger said. “I believe in empowering employees to be the best version of themselves because when our crews are supported with the right tools, education, and opportunities, it benefits the entire community.”
Reiger is committed to fostering strong collaboration between EMS, fire departments, first responders, healthcare facilities, and community partners. She believes that teamwork and interdepartmental relationships are essential to delivering the highest level of care. Reiger also emphasizes a guiding principle for the organization summarized by the acronym CCER — care, compassion, empathy, and respect.
“These values should guide how we treat everyone — our patients, their families, our coworkers, our partner agencies, and the communities we serve,” Reiger said. “At the end of the day, we are all working toward the same goal: caring for patients and protecting our communities.”
Reiger also strongly believes that access to high-quality healthcare should not depend on geography.
“Whether someone lives in a large city or a rural community, they deserve the same level of care and compassion,” she said.
Green County EMS is excited to welcome Reiger and looks forward to the experience, leadership, and dedication she brings as the organization continues its mission of providing exceptional emergency medical care to the residents of Green County and the surrounding region.
