Green County eligible for conservation initiative

MADISON - Green County is eligible for the special Driftless Area Conservation Initiative.

Farm and woodland owners in the Driftless Area may apply for financial assistance for conservation practices to address resource issues by Friday, Aug. 3.

The focus will be to reduce soil erosion and improve fish and wildlife habitat on the working lands, woodlands, prairies and cold water streams in the Driftless Area. Green County is among the 23 counties that have land in the eligible area.

Interested landowners can contact the Natural Resources Conservation Service office at the USDA Service Center, 1627 4th Ave. West, Monroe.
