MONROE - Eli Zimmerman and Maddison Markham have been selected as the 2012 Green County Cheese Days Prince and Princess.
Zimmerman, the son of Travis and Kayla Zimmerman, is almost 8 years old and will be attending New Glarus Elementary School this fall as a third-grader. He has been a member of the New Glarus Kinderchor since he was 4, and currently plays the part of Wilhelm Tell Junior in the annual Wilhelm Tell pageant. Zimmerman is a member of the Golden Gators Swim Team and the Sugar River Rapids-New Glarus Swim Team. His older brother, Noah, served as Cheese Days Prince in 2008.
Markham, the daughter of Ron and Kim Markham, is 9 years old and will be a fourth-grader at St. Victor School this fall. She also enjoys performing theater and music. Markham was a cast member in the 2010 Monroe Theatre Guild production of "The Music Man." She also takes piano lessons and sings. Markham is a member of the YMCA Gems Gymnastics Team and plays soccer with the Monroe Rebels.
Both Zimmerman and Markham will make numerous appearances this summer to promote the Cheese Days Festival.
