Green County Board of Supervisors: Dec. 22, 2018
Courthouse

MONROE — On Dec. 11, the Green County Board of Supervisors:

●   Authorized a resolution allowing delinquent tax certificates to be transferred to the office of the county clerk to process the deeds for tax collection efforts. Treasurer Sherri Hawkins said the positive news is that Green County has a “very low” delinquent tax rate and it appears to be going down each year.

●   Approved a contract with Aegis, or Wisconsin County Mutual, for $376,000 for a worker’s compensation insurance premium and more than $192,000 for a liability insurance premium. County Clerk Mike Doyle said the county had previously been enrolled with Aegis, but left for Wausau Insurance to receive better rates, but that if all of the steps of a claim were not followed closely, the county still loses money and Aegis has done a good job in the past.

●   Allowed the clerk’s office to write a grant to the state Department of Natural Resources for county fish and game project aids as well as snowmobile trail aids. The board authorized matching funds for any received grant funds.

●   Authorized the Green County Department of Human Services to write a grant to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to allocate at least $19,143 for specialized transportation services for the elderly and those with disabilities with a 20 percent match by the county as required by the state.

●   Approved the wage increases of all county employees with the exception of union-represented law enforcement by 0.5 percent effective June 30. Chair Art Carter said the wage study has yet to be finalized, and so the county decided to maintain the same increase as it did last year.

●   Granted the Human Services and Sheriff’s Office permission to accept additional funds for emergency management grants which Human Services Director Greg Holcomb said was money other counties were unable to use and could be put toward treatment, medication and additional staff training. Sheriff Mark Rohloff said the funding provides a facilitator to conduct an active shooter exercise with deputies at Brodhead High School.

●   Appointed Ken Anderson to the Veterans Services Commission and County Board Supervisor Richard Thoman to the Green County Development Board, each for three-year terms. Supervisors Harvey Mandel and John Winters were absent from the meeting.
