MONROE - On Jan. 9, the Green County Board of Supervisors:
Heard an update from Family Promise of Green County Director Rick Gleason about the program. "We continue to be very busy and continue to exceed our numbers each year," Gleason said, noting that in 2017 the program helped 21 families, which included 51 people, 30 of which were children. Gleason thanked the board for its support of the chapter.
Approved a contract with K.C. Computers, Monroe, to supply the new Government Services Building with IT hardware for a total of $187,000.
Authorized a University of Wisconsin-Extension services contract for just over $116,000, which is payable in two installments; one in January and the other in June.
Accepted a state grant to hire a new nurse with the Green County Health Department and for the Home Visiting Program to provide care for infants for roughly $118,540. Coverage can be expanded from 40 to 60 clients through the approved application.
Changed county code to switch the responsibility of dispersing the county employee handbook from Green County Clerk Mike Doyle to the Department of Human Resources, and added the department as a resource to offer advice alongside corporation counsel as necessary.
Extended the county-wide moratorium on animal feedlot permitting by 45 days to May 8. Supervisor Oscar Olson said the need was due to the upcoming spring election and to give time for any new supervisors to review unfamiliar materials.
Stood in a moment of silence for former supervisor and WWII POW veteran Harold "Heinie" Babler, who died Dec. 14 at the age of 93.
Heard an announcement from Doyle that the results of the county water study will only be released once, on Jan. 30 at the Green County Justice Center.
