Green County Board: March 11, 2008

On Tuesday, March 11, the Green County Board of Supervisors:

• Created a governing board for Southwest Wisconsin-South Aging and Disability Resource Center. The governing board is made up of four county board supervisors from Green, Lafayette, Grant and Iowa counties, along with seven consumer advocates who represent the elderly and disabled to work with seniors and the disabled. The money for the board and the organization is from a federal grant.

• Approved two positions for the aging and disability resource center with salaries and benefits paid for by a federal grant. The two people hired will work with Lafayette, Grant and Iowa counties to help establish aging and disability resource centers in those counties.

• Approved a contract with Auxiant for health insurance for county employees for about $508,000 for April 1, 2008 to March 31, 2009.

• Increased insurance rates from $594 per year to $630 per year for single policy insurance holders and from $1,464 per year to $1,552 for family policies.

• Adopted a Tri-County Trails Commission charter. The last charter was established in 1990 and this brings the charter up to date with little changes from the original.

• Approved a contract with all Green County Sheriff Department employees for 2008-10. The contract gives employees a 3 percent pay increase over the next two years.

• Recognized Dave Rufenacht, Sherry Condon and Don Timm for their years of service to the county board. They have decided not to seek another term to the board. Their terms end in April.
