On Tuesday, Feb. 12, the Green County Board of Supervisors:

• Authorized the purchase of two graders and an end loader for the highway department. The department will enter into lease-to-purchase contracts for the three items for a total cost of almost $300,000. The lease-to-own proposal makes it more fiscally responsible to purchase the equipment that way, board chairman Art Carter.

• Authorized payment of about $125,000 to municipalities for bridge repair and construction in Green County in 2007. The federal government pays 80 percent of the cost and the municipalities and counties split the remaining 20 percent.

• Increased the hours for the Green County Human Services disability specialist from 32 hours to 40 hours a week with the intent of splitting the hours between two people. Green County Human Services Director Greg Holcomb told the board the disability benefits specialist works with people under the age of 59 and the position is state funded.

• Created a child advocacy center coordinator position for 40 hours a week. The coordinator will work with sexually abused children. The position is funded by the state.
