MONROE - Green County 4-H clubs are enrolling new and returning members into their clubs.
The Green County 4-H program is a cooperative program between Green County and the University of Wisconsin Extension System (UWEX). Youth in third grade and older may join a 4-H community club in Green County, and anyone in kindergarten through second grade can join the same club and participate in the Cloverbud/Exploring program.
The Green County 4-H year runs from Sept. 1 through Aug. 31 of the following year. Currently in Green County, there are 17 4-H clubs, 600 members and approximately 250-plus youth involved. Local clubs meet on a monthly basis, with members and their families participating in activities together.
4-H is for all youth, whether they live in a city, town or rural area. About 52 percent of Green County's 4-H members live in the city of Monroe or in outlying communities.
Dozens of projects are offered in 4-H, but not every club offers every project. Youth can choose from the projects related to animal sciences, communication arts, cultural arts and health sciences.
More information is available by calling Alissa Grenawalt, 4-H and Youth Development Agent, at (608) 328-9440 or email alissa.grenawalt@ces.uwex.ed or visit green.uwex.edu/4-h-youth-development. There will be 4-H club window displays throughout the Green County area during National 4-H Week from Oct. 7 through 13.
