MONROE - Glanbia Inc., the parent company of Monroe-based Glanbia Nutritionals, has purchased Illinois-based Optimum Nutrition Inc. for $315 million.
Optimum Nutrition, which will still be a customer of Glanbia Nutritionals, has three operating facilities in Illinois, South Carolina and Florida and employs 387 people.
The company for 22 years has manufactured whey-based nutritional supplements for the U.S. and global sports nutrition markets. In 2007, Optimum generated $185 million in revenue and $32 million in operating profit.
