MONROE - The Green County Harmony Chorus will present its 52nd annual Spring Show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6 at the Monroe High School's Performing Arts Center.
Emcee for the evening is Ann Bartlett, who sings baritone with the Sound of Madison, a Sweet Adelines International chorus. GCHC is directed by Cindy Blanc.
Guest performers include two male quartets, The Cheery-O's from Madison and Velvet Hammer from Rockford. Both are affiliated with the Barbershop Harmony Society. A female quartet, By Request from Madison, rounds out the program.
Tickets are available from any chorus member. Admission to the show is $10 for adults and $5 for students.
Afterglow tickets include food, beverages and additional performances by the GCHC and its guest quartets. Tickets for the Afterglow are in the MHS M-Room are $5.
GCHC was formed in 1962. Its repertoire consists of barbershop arrangements of standards, gospel, sacred, pop and novelty tunes. Members come from Blanchardville; Brodhead; Browntown; Monroe; Freeport; Lena; Pearl City, Ill.; Shannon, Ill.; and Stockton, Ill. They have been with the local barbershop chorus for varying lengths of time, but some have been harmonizing together since the group's inception. Assistant director Gary Partridge, Monroe, leads the chorus at many community events and has been singing with the group for 37 years.
