MONROE — Green County Development Corporation’s (GCDC) Executive Director, Olivia Otte’s attendance at the Mid-America Economic Development Council’s (EDC) conference completed her year of scholarship benefits from the same organization and provided plenty of new ideas to bring back to Green County.
Otte received the Mid-America EDC 2023 Bob Ady Scholarship which included sponsorship to two economic development conferences and monthly mentoring opportunities. The Mid-America EDC is a multi-state association dedicated to being a leading resource for education, making connections, and sharing best practices for economic development professionals.
The Competitiveness Conference in Indianapolis at the end of November provided insights and ideas in the areas of site selection, development, utilities, marketing, workforce and more. Gaining knowledge from leaders in housing development, workforce attraction and development, and learning trends in the industrial market were highlights for attendees.
“Hearing what others are doing in their communities, their unique approaches to similar problems and needs, is invaluable in providing ideas to move our county forward in positive ways” Otte stated. Additionally, creativity and collaboration was emphasized as a key element in successful economic development.
