MONROE — Green County Development Corporation (GCDC) will hold its Annual Dinner & Awards night on Thursday, March 21 at Turner Hall in Monroe. Business leaders and community members are invited to attend the event, which will highlight 2023 achievements for GCDC, provide insights into the future of economic development in Wisconsin, and recognize local businesses and leaders in Green County.
“We are excited to bring our amazing businesses of Green County together again to celebrate some of our county’s most outstanding accomplishments, as well as the opportunity to network and strengthen our communities,” said Nikki Austin, GCDC Board President.
The Keynote address will be led by leaders from Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), sharing the role both organizations have in realizing Wisconsin’s full economic potential: Leveraging their power and resources to ensure economic well-being and rural prosperity for the future of our area. WEDC helps Wisconsin businesses and communities find success by helping to activate and accelerate economic opportunity in the state.
The program will also include announcements of recipients of three county awards.
● Outstanding Business of the Year — honoring an existing business that has demonstrated outstanding commitment to the county’s economic growth through innovation, job creation, new investment, and/or extraordinary long-time interest in supporting others in business.
● Entrepreneurial Spirit Award — recognizing an entrepreneur who leads the way for their business, demonstrating a growth mindset, a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn and find solutions to challenges, and a hunger for opportunity.
● Richard B. Schmied Leadership Award — commemorates Richard B. Schmied, remembered for the characteristics of leadership he exhibited. The winner of the award exemplifies the character of a true leader.
Nominations for the awards can be submitted until Feb. 26 at www.greencountydevelopment/news-events/.
“(The year) 2023 was an incredible year of growth and collaboration for GCDC. Sharing an evening of celebration with those that made it happen with us is a highlight of our year,” said Olivia Otte, Executive Director of GCDC. As part of the program, a brief overview of the organizations goals for 2024 will be presented.
