GC area dairy management seminar planned for Jan. 5

MONROE - The Green County Milk Quality Council, in cooperation with University of Wisconsin-Extension, will sponsor the 24th Green County Area Dairy Management Seminar from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5 in the multipurpose room of the Green County Justice Center, 2841 6th St.

The advance registration fee is $5 and includes lunch. Registrations are due to the Green County UW-Extension Office by Friday, Dec. 30. An additional $2 late fee will be charged for registrations received after this date. Enrollment is limited to the first 65 participants.

The featured speakers this year will include Dr. Randy Shaver, UW-Extension dairy nutritionist, who will give presentations on "Meeting Starch Needs in Dairy Rations with High Corn Prices" and "Alternative Feed Opportunities and Pitfalls."

Dr. Paul Fricke, UW Extension Dairy Reproduction Specialist, will be on hand to discuss "New Technologies to Improve Reproduction."

Pam Ruegg, UW Milk Quality Specialist, will also be on the program to discuss "How to Achieve and Maintain a low Bulk Tank SCC."
