MONROE - Sunborn Flowers, a flower farm in Mt. Horeb, will host the Green County Master Gardeners for a tour at 7 p.m. July 27. The tour is also open to the general public.
The tour will showcase a variety of shrubs, perennials, bulbs and annuals planted for cutting for bouquets. Sunborn Flowers farms intensively on about four irrigated acres with three hoophouses. Carol Larsen, along with her son Hans Larsen, will be tour guides. Carol Larsen has sold flowers since her first visit to the Dane County Farmers Market in 1975. Her son joined the business in 2011 and has enlarged the marketing stream for Sunborn with weddings, restaurants and a CSA program.
The Green County Wisconsin Master Gardeners Association was formed in Green County in 2004 to provide Master Gardeners with opportunities for professional development and community service. The group meets the fourth Thursday of the month from February through October. Anyone interested in horticulture and gardening may join the association; meetings are open to anyone.
