MONROE - Monroe Clinic and Hospital Foundation will sponsor the Prevent Alcohol and Risk-Related Trauma in Youth programs on Tuesday at the Monroe High School Performing Arts Center.
Students from area high schools will learn about the consequences of poor decision-making - while being empowered to make informed, safe choices.
The 75-minute programs include a dramatization featuring student actors, Monroe Clinic physicians and nurses, Green County emergency medical services, Monroe police officers, the Green County sheriff, firefighters from several local communities and a former Green County coroner.
An excerpt from a Green County judge and the personal stories of individuals directly affected by their own choices or the choices of others related to alcohol and driving while under the influence also will be shared.
High school students from Albany, Argyle, Belleville, Black Hawk, Darlington, Juda, Lena-Winslow, Monroe, Monticello, New Glarus, Orangeville, Pecatonica and Pearl City will be in attendance.
In addition to the student programs, Monroe Clinic and Hospital Foundation is sponsoring an event for the community from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Monroe High School Performing Arts Center.
A panel of experts comprised of an emergency department physician and nurse, a former Green County coroner, a Green County judge, Monroe police and a survivor will be on hand to share their perspectives, answer questions from the audience and provide tools that can help you start a conversation with your loved ones. The panel discussion is free to the public and requires no registration.
