MADISON - A New Glarus woman pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Madison to taking more than $100,000 from a New Glarus bank.
A visiting judge didn't set a sentencing date, according to United States Attorney Grant C. Johnson
Abigail K. Eichelkraut, 26, pleaded guilty to embezzlement. She faces up to 30 years in prison, $1 million in fines, a $100 special assessment, five years extended supervision and an order to pay restitution.
Court records indicate she was arrested Aug. 13 by the New Glarus Police Department. She later confessed to embezzling $114,878 from Amcore Bank in New Glarus over a three-year period while she was employed as an assistant branch manager.
At the time Eichelkraut was arrested, New Glarus Police Chief Steve Allbaugh said Eichelkraut kept track of the money she took from the bank. Eichelkraut told detectives she needed the money to meet expenses.
The investigation was done by the New Glarus Police Department, the Green County Sheriff's Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
