MONROE - Heavy rains and melting snow may lead to flooding problems in Green and Lafayette counties this weekend.
The counties are included in a flash flood watch issued by the National Weather Service and in effect through Saturday evening. Increasing moisture on southerly winds and a couple of low pressure systems will bring rounds of rain and thunderstorms to southern Wisconsin tonight and into Saturday. This, combined with warmer temperatures and snow melt, likely will lead to some flooding problems, the NWS said.
Rainfall amounts of one-half to one inch are possible from tonight into Saturday. Locally higher rainfall totals will occur underneath any thunderstorm activity.
The area also is under a dense fog advisory until 6 p.m. Saturday.
