DARLINGTON - An Amish teenager pleaded no contest Monday to sexual assault on charges that he broke into a residence and raped an underage girl in the Town of Fayette in 2016.

Daniel Esh Fisher, 18, currently of Argyle, entered pleas of no contest to a Class C felony count of second-degree sexual assault with the use of force and a Class I felony count of exposing his genitals to a child.

Fisher was charged when, in the early morning hours of his 17th birthday, April 8, 2016, he reportedly entered a residence in the Town of Fayette through an open window. He then moved throughout the house until he found a bedroom with a single, female occupant.

Fisher reportedly bound and gagged the girl, removed her clothes and raped her, briefly covering her mouth and nose with his hand.

Additional charges of burglary, false imprisonment and strangulation were dismissed as part of Fisher's plea agreement.

Lafayette County Circuit Judge Duane Jorgenson ordered a pre-sentencing investigation to determine an appropriate sentence. The findings of that investigation will be revealed July 26.

Fisher's attorney, Jane Bucher, recommended a withheld sentence of 15 years of probation with one year of conditional jail time. Jorgenson said he is not yet certain whether he will abide by that recommendation.

The maximum possible sentence for Fisher's remaining charges is 28 years in prison.
