MONROE - The final elected official who was delinquent in paying property taxes has paid them, Green County Treasurer Sherri Hawkins said Monday.
Monroe Common Council member Jan Lefevre, who represents Ward 4, paid her 2007 and 2008 taxes Oct. 30.
She paid $4,025 for her 2007 taxes and $3,464 for her 2008 taxes. She paid $963 in interest and penalties for her 2007 taxes and about $400 in interest and penalties for her 2008 taxes, Hawkins said.
Lefevre declined to comment about her late tax payments when contacted Monday.
The deadline for paying remaining property taxes was July 31. After a grace period, penalties and interest began to accrue Aug. 7.
Monroe Mayor Ron Marsh, who was delinquent in his 2008 taxes, paid his property taxes Sept. 29.
With interest and penalties, he owed $3,361. He paid $500 of that before Sept. 8, according to the treasurer's office. On Sept. 29, Marsh paid the remaining amount of $2,900, which included some interest.
Green County Board member Craig Foreback paid his 2008 taxes Oct. 19. He owed $6,983.
Foreback, represented District 29 on the board until he resigned Oct. 12 because he moved to Dane County.
