MONROE - Some Monroe residents found bags left at their homes requesting donations to the food pantry on 17th Avenue. The bags were left there by members of the youth group "Pathfinders" for residents to fill.
Filled bags should be put out Saturday where they can be seen from the road so members of the group can pick them up. The group was not able to deliver to every home in Monroe, so anyone who did not receive a bag but who wishes to donate may set out a bag in an easily seen spot and the Pathfinders will watch for them. If a bag is not picked up Saturday, call 608-289-6214.
The Seventh-day Adventist church sponsors the group and provides the staff members.
The group does many of the same things Boy Scouts do and have both boys and girls so that whole families can participate.
There are women counselors for the girls and men for the boys. Activities include camping and teaching children how to build campfires and sterilize water, as well as teaching them about birds, trees and nature in general. There are more than 300 honors the children can earn.
