MONROE - The ninth annual Green County Premier Exhibitor contest was held at the 2017 Green County Fair.
The event is designed to recognize 4-H and FFA members who have shown exceptional involvement and knowledge in their respective project area.
The Premier Exhibitor contest is open to any exhibitor in the areas of swine, dairy, beef, sheep, goats, rabbits, and poultry, and is divided into two age divisions.
The junior division is for exhibitors in third through eighth grades, and the senior division is for exhibitors in grade 9 and up.
During this event, contestants participated in showmanship, a skillathon, and took a 35-point knowledge quiz. The skillathon consisted of four stations: breed identification, equipment identification, meat & cheese identification and feed identification.
The top participant in the Junior Division received an embroidered blanket and the top participant in the Senior Division received headphones donated by Colony Brands. The second- and third-place participants in each division received $30 and $20 Nasco show supply gift cards, respectively.
Sponsors for the contest included: Colony Brands Inc., Hesgard Collision Center LLC, Green County Holstein Breeders, Green County Jr. Holstein Breeders, Green County Beef Producers, Green County Pork Producers, Green County Sheep Producers, Green County 4-H Goat Committee, and Green County University of Wisconsin-Extension.
